026.15 A small well gushing from the steep, rocky face of a bank overhanging the Clyde - it has no mineral properties. There is an absurd tradition connected with this well that the stones used in building the church of Biggar were quarried from the rocks from which it springs. This serves to expalin the derivation of its name, although no authentic information can be obtained to corroborate the above mention legend_
