The houses in it are 2 storeys slated and in tolerable repair. The origin of its name is unknown but it is evidently an old part of the Town.

The Tron was a building used for the double purpose of Weighing Goods and as a Pillory. to which persons convicted of petty crimes were fixed with what were termed "joggs" - It was supposed to have been erected at the same time as the Old Tolbooth. - and was removed at the end of the 18th century.
