It was made about 40 years ago & is commonly called "New Avon Bridge" from being made to replace the "Old Avon Bridge" about 11 chains south. The Carlisle T.P. [Turn Pike] Road formerly crossed the "Old" Bridge. There is a Toll on the south-east side of "Avon Bridge". |

There are several houses, including the Miller's dwelling, a Lodge of the "High Parks" of Hamilton & some colliers' dwellings, which bear the name of the Mill. |
