From this point to where it enters the Clyde (xviii-1 Trace 4) at "Smithycroft", it is known as "Covan Burn". In the first part of its course it has no name, being, like all minor streams, named from the various Farms through which it flows. The Statistical Account gives it the name of "Covan Burn" generally, but that name is not known until [it] passes out of the Parks & enters the Clyde, As the proper well known name _ "Meikle Burn"
