006.15 This name applies to that portion of the "Glasgow Green" lying betwixt the River and that long embankment leading from the Humane Society Ho. [House]

"The Magistrates and Council purchased, in 1792, from Patrick Bell Esq of Cowcaddens, the lineal descendants of the respectable Provosts of that name, the lands of Provost Haugh, etc or Fleshers' Haugh, so called from the pasturage being formerly let out to certain members of that incorporation."
