023.08 | "Till within a few years of the ruins of an ancient Castle were to be seen very near the mansion of Hallhill." New Statistical Account.There are no remains whatever to be seen of this castle. There is a slope on the east side of the site which continues southward of the Castle site & forms a knoll in a Plantation _ 6 chains from the site. The ruins of this castle which does not appear to have any name, were pulled down by the present proprietor's predecessor, about 30 years ago. The old key of the castle is in the possession of the Proprietor of "Hallhill." The site is well known. |
