Tumulus (continued) XV111 16 Trace 4.
tumulus stood, and it now appears like ground raised a little about the root of the tree. The bottom of the elevated ground is sketched. The tree.
Upon the authority of W. Henderson, Farmer, Dalpatrick, the site of Saint Patrick's Chapel", is where the tumulus stood, but this seems to be more an opinion than from tradition or otherwise. Mr John Johnstone, Hamilton, who lived here about 40 years ago, has heard the tree at the tumulus named the hiyin mary tree", This is the only thing which shows a probability of the chapel site being upon the tumulus. The stones taken from the tumulus, as stated by Mr W. Henderson of Dalpatrick, did not appear to be foundation stones, or the ruins of a building.
