040.05 On the West slope of Eastmains Hill, is a number of peculiar looking ridges which are supposed to be artificial. Mr Sim says they are similar to those in the County of Peebles, and other parts of Scotland, about which, there has been a great deal said and written; some archaiologists consider them to have been thrown up by the ahcients, to witness the games in the valley below, after the style of the amphitheatres; others consider them to be vestiges of ancient agriculture.
