010.16 A circular mound of earth on the above farm, on which is a station. On which authority it is called a "Roman Camp" I have been unable to ascertain. However it is known and called that throughout the Parish_
Mr Galloway Land Valuator etc of 21 Bath St [Street] (one of the authorities for the mode of spelling) conjectures it to be such on account of its situation being somewhere in the line of Roman Road which branches off at "Tinto" & leads to Dumbarton, but at the present day there are no traces of the Roman Road in this parish as mentioned in the Old Statistical account_
While neither the Old nor New Statl [Statistical] accounts mention the Camp__
