035 this object situated on the kirrouchtree estate. in a field, on the right hand side of the road leading from sreetown, to newton stewart, and 1/4 of a mile from the latter . ther is nothing now to be seen but the remains of a circle, or rather an oval which is now almost level with the ground, or general surface.
this is supposed to be the place where the romans and picts encamped against the scots, as adverted to in nicholsons history of galloway vol 1. p.86..
there is no tradition when found in the locality respecting this object.

near the place where these were found some vestiges of an intrenchment are still to be discovered.- sinclairs stat. acct. vol.7 p. 60.
this passage from sinclairs stat. acct. apparently refer to the above camp or fort, but whether it be a roman camp or fort or thaat of a british one cannot now be easily proved as it is so much defaced yet from the shape of what already remains it appears more like a british fort.
note after much enquiry in the locality of this object no satisfactory information could be obtained.
