030 A handsome lake. bounded by the farms of Morrowton, orchars, and Round Fell, it extends from North to South for about 2 miles & varies from 1/4 to 1/2 mile in breadth, upon portions of its margin is found a kind of coarse sand. which has gained celebrity for its sharpening scythes. the Loch abounds with trout which for quality stand unrivalled it also contains a rare specie of fish call char, which are only to be caught by a net, as they refuse fly or bait. it contains several very small islands one of which only has a name (Eagle Island) upon its South Western side stands a wooden house. as also a stone building adjoining. The wooden house is furnished with a nicety approaching to elegance & is inhabited in the shooting season by Gentleman renting the adjacent shooting ground The stone building affords good accommodation for the servants.The Loch is on the Estate of Cally & is the property of Horatio Stewart Murray Esqr. of Cally.
