027 [Situation] Running in a S.E. [South East] direction passing Pleasance on the E.[East] side near its junction with the Nith. A small river rising out of Lochrutton and running in an Easterly direction to its influx with the Nith about 3 Miles below Dumfries. It is called Cargen Water prior to its crossing the road leading from Dumfries to Carsethorn. The [--] also flows up this river as far as isle Steps bridge
