027 | This antiquity has every appearance of having at one time had connection with the worship of the ancient Druids, the remains of which are quite visible; it consists of nine stones in a circular formation. one of which is out of place. and within the period of these 20 years the stone that was centrically placed and on which human sacrifice was supposed to have been offered was taken away. the species of these stones is a deep blue granite. though the outward appearance is quite gray. which I suppose gave rise to the name Gray stones. some are yet standing. others in a prostrated position. but it is evident they were all in an upright position, few in shape is somewhat oblong others rather circular the largest is about 5 ft [feet] by 3. ft [feet] from that they decrease in size; but surprising to think there is not nine other such isolated stones.
