or monadh A moor or heathy expanse the prefix minni occurs frequently
in the composition of names as "Minnibuie", „Minnidow“, „Minnigaff“, &c, but the termination
„Wick“ is rather difficult to explain. It is reasonable to suppose that it signifies some quality in the moss or
moor or from things abounding in it such as swine or he-goats &c. Monadh mhuic i.e. The swines moor
by a very slight change Monadh mhic would be pronounced Minniwick.
