Carnderry via Newtonstewart A small portion of rough pasture land in the parish of Minnigaff situated a short distance north of "Moor Linn" it is bounded on the east side by the River Cree and on all the other sides by the boundary between the shires of Ayr & Kirkcudbright, to the latter it belongs hence the name Galloway The shires of Wigton and Kirkcudbright being known as Galloway and by the river shifting is course it may probably have formed at one time an island or islands.
