It was erected in 1848 at a Cost of 500 pounds £200 of which was paid by the Free Church Manse building fund and the remainder by the Congregation. It is presently Occupied by the Rev. [Reverend] John Henning. The Site of the Church and Manse was granted by James Oswald Esqr. of Auchencruive. |

A Small Burn taking its rise on the farm of Gordonston ad running in a S.[South Easterly] direction through the farms of Tower & Torlane from the latter it took the name to its influx with Garpel Burn. It retains this name from its Source to its influx. |
