DOE LOCH | Doe Loch | John Murray n.s. Craigencallie via N. [New] Galloway A. McMillan n.s. Glenhead via Newton Stewart |
014 | A pond or very small lake near the Summit of 'Craiglee' There is no Stream flowing into or out of it. And it appears to be supplied by some spring within itself. A few years ago Mr. McMillan the farmer of 'Glenhead' put a number of small trout into it they appear to have thriven And bred well, As a good many have since been caught by Anglers. My authorities allege that this object derived its name from its being the haunt of deer when the adjoining And Surrounding neighbourhood was a forest. |
