013 [Situation] Running in a Southerly direction along the EastSide of Balloch Trust
A considerable mountain stream having its source in the Baloch Hills (Ayrshire) During heavy rains it assumes the appearance of a considerable river rolling down in torrents, its rise being extremely rapid and its decrease equally so. Its course for about seven or eight miles is southward and afterwards nearly 2 miles southwestward to its influx into the "River Cree" at "Brigton", traversing (except near its termination) a dreary country And receiving numerous independent rills and in particular the "Water of Truil" which drains a large extent of Country to the East. It is noted for the quantity and quality of its trout and salmon and is much frequented by Anglers in the fishing Season. For a short distance (at "Kirriereoch") it forms part of the boundary between the shires of Ayr and Kirkcudbright.
