[South] of BlacK Gutter A hollow between Garlieston And Benyellary the name is said to be derived from a bend (like the crank of s spit) in the fence opposite the base of Benyellary. Mr. McMillan of Palgowan says that the meaning of the word Neeve in this name is not well Known but he supposes it to be the Scotch word for "hand".- |
