A very large mountain stream having its source in the "Baloch Hills " Ayrshire, during heavy rain it assumes the appearance of a large river rolling down in torrents its rise being extremely rapid and its decrease equally so. It flows for about 7 or 8 miles Southward And afterwards nearly 2 miles Southwestward to its influx into the "River Cree" traversing (except near its termination) a wild dreary country and receiving numerous independent rills, and in particular the "Water of Truil" which drains a large extent of country to the east. It is noted for the quantity And quality of its trout and salmon And is much frequented by Anglers in the fishing Season. For a short distance (at Kirriereoch farm) it forms part of the boundary betweens the counties of Ayr and Kirkcudbright.
