050 [Situation] About 1 5/8 Miles S.S.W. [South South West] of the town of Kirkcudbright.
A small Island formed by the influx of the tide. Its Surface Consists chiefly of natural wood etc and bounded on the East. South and S.W. [South West] Sides by rugged rocks and on the North West Side by a considerable bed of Sand. It is approached by a narrow [natural] Causeway which is chiefly composed of gravel and a few Stepping Stones from St Mary's Isle on its North Side. -
