050 [Situation] Near the South end of the site of Loch Fergus.
A small fortified Islet of Loch Fergus Covered with woods, it is of an elliptical form in the centre of which is the appearance of the ruins or site of a house about 25 feet in length and 16 in breadth very probable this had been the stable pertaining to Castle Fergus hence the name "Stable Isle".

A tract of good arable land Situated along the River Dee within the burgh of Kirkcudbright. It was formerly the property of the Earl of Selkirk, but was exchanged by him with the corporation of the burgh of Kirkcudbright for a field in the South Side of the burgh which lay near the mansion of St Mary's Isle. -
