John Broom Kirkcudbright		 050 The Gas works at Kirkcudbright were erected AD 1839 by a Joint Stock Company of 320 Shares of 5£ per share. The Gas works consist of the usual apparatus common to Small Works of the Kind, it has three Retorts and one Gasometer. The Coals used are supplied at 11.8 per thousand cubic feet The works are managed by a board of directors And returns about 5 per Cent to the proprietors
