050 A considerable Bay Est of River Dee, it is a kind of clay bottom, is dry at low water but affords an excellent Anchorage for Vessels of small tonnage. It extends from extreme point of Parkgate to St Mary's Isle - Some years ago smuggling from the Isle of Man was carried on here to a great extent hence the name of Bay.
