050 A large Plantation on the Farm of Cannee & Estate of the Earl of Selkirk, according to the traditions of the country people, it was the haunt of a man called Moorow or Moor and from his dark complexion, Black Morrow, his depredations in the adjoining county having been so great, it was ordered by the King (James 2nd) that the lands of Bombie (then under confiscation) should be given to any person that would bring him to the King dead or alive, The Younger McLellan of Bombie tried the following strategem to take him having got a quantity of spirits he filled a Well frequently resorted to by the Black morrow, in the West Side of the Wood, with the Spirits & the Blackmorrow coming soon after to drink he in a short time became intoxicated & lay down to sleep McLellan instantly came up and cut off his head and carried it to the King who immediately restored to him the lands of Bombie
