A large isolated granite Stone standing at the Eastern base of the Rig of Burnfoot about 7 feet high 4.5 feet Broad. It is completly severd in halves by a stroke of lightning. Hence the name.

037 [Situation] Running in a westerly direction from the south side of the Moss called Flesh Market & runs into the Little Water of Fleet.
A small stream gathering from numerous small tributaries on the farm of Girthon Grobdale and running in a westerly direction to its influx with the Little Water of Fleet at Burnfoot farm house now in ruins.

A considerable tract or Moss on the farms of Girthon, Grobdale and Culreoach it had been much softer than at present & cattle often were smothered in it, hence the name.
