005.06 | About 12 years ago in planting some young trees in this wood, a small cairn was removed, below which was found a Cist or Stone Coffin, almost level with the surface, and measured 3 feet long 2 feet broad and 2 feet deep; of rough undressed stones one at each side, one at each end and one on the top and two at the bottom, it was lying East & West but contained neither Urn, Bones, nor ashes. |

005.10 | A Cist, or rude stone coffin is to be seen at this place, about four feet long by 2 feet broad and 2 feet deep and is now nearly filled up level with the surface: no particulars can be obtained of when it was first discovered or what it contained. as the oldest inhabitants of the place cannot give any traditional account of it, the place is generally called the Cist or Kist Cairn |
