The name Signifies "The Coal Rock", and a very thin vein of coal is to be seen at its base. A shaft was sunk near this rock a number of years ago by Lord Macdonald, but from the smallness of the vein and the difficulty of working it, it was found not to pay.The shaft is now filled up. |

This is Ruin of a Roman Catholic Chapel, which was dedicated to Maol-luig, the patron Saint of Argyle It is beautifully situated at the Southern base of Cnoc Ràtha, and near the north-eastern corner, of the garden attached to Raasay House. It is said to be about Seven hundred years old, and, although it must have been long roofless, the walls are Still their full height. It stands at the North end of a rectangular grave yard, which is still used as a place of sepulture, and which is protected by a good stone wall surmounted by an iron raling |
