035 This name applies to the Site of the residence of the McLeod's of Raasay which was demolished immediately after the Rebellion in 1746, no trace of this Tower is now visable the foundation being removed about 1846 when the vegetable garden was extended. Immediately south of the Tower a Sculptured Stone was found in 1846 which is presently placed in an upright position near the East end of the Mansion House.
SCULPTURED STONE FOUND A.D. 1846 [Raasay] 035 This rough Slab of Granite bears on one side in relief what appears to Commemorate one of the Stages of the Passion of Christ; and possibly is one of the Eight Crosses referred to in Boswells History of Johnsons tour in the Hebrides. Again about 150 yards north of the site of this Tower is the ruin of what is said to be a place of worship but is evidently one of the row of buildings described in the above history as situated north of the other row of crosses extending from Shore to Shore & described as about four feet high; its present appearance is a square of four feet, and one foot above the surface.
