Ward Law signifies "Watch Hill" it is supposed that the neighbouring Castle of Lovat was watched by Cromwell's Soldiers from this eminence, hence its name. The name Mary's Hill is also applied to it on account of the Church which stood on its Summit being dedicated to the Virgin. The property of the Right Honourable Lord Lovat. Beaufort Castle. |
