OS1/17/42/75A [Page] 75A EXAMINATION OFFICE By further Investigation it appears that the change of spelling on the margin of sheet 127 was caused by a Request from Captain Bolland R.E. [Royal Engineers] - on 126 he has the two names Sròn na Glaoidh, and Druim na Glaoidh, and this led to the assimilating of Sheets 126 and 127. - As all the other words in the Composition of the two names Sròn na Glaoidh, and Druim na Glaoidh are written as pure Gaelic would it not be as well to assimilate the spelling on Sheet 112 and write the name Druim na Glaoidh, as on Sheet 126 ? The younger also resided on the estate living on a small farm the property of his brother, he to was married and had six sons, all grown up. It appears that the brother who possessed the small farm and large family wished to possess more, in fact he could not understand why he ought not to possess the estate as well. So he formed a dark conspiracy in conjunction with his six sons by which they were to get rid of the Chief and his family and obtain the estate for themselves. They murdered the Chief and his family but they found that by doing so they made matters worse than they previously were. Songs were composed and sung before the surrounding Chiefs by certain Eoin Lom or bare John for the purpose of inciting them to revenge their neighbours death. When the seven murderers saw that their lives were not safe they fled to the hills and it was at Torran na Mionna that they swore by the dirk to be true to each other.

OS1/17/42/95 Torran na Mionna Little Knoll of the Oath (Continued) Mr J. Boyle; Bohuntine Mr A. McDonald; Bunachan Mr A. McDonald; Achavady Glen Roy They lived for 7 years in caves in the surrounding hills of Lochaber; at the end of that time thinking all was forgotten they returned to Keppoch. In the mean time Eoin Lom was not idle after using all the means in his power during the seven years to have his chiefs death revenged, he at last succeeded in obtaining a party of men from MacDonald Lord of the Isles and some also from McDonald of Glengarry. He left Glengarry Castle at dusk and arrived at Keppoch at midnight, he put the murderers to death and brought the seven heads to Glengarry. They were washed in a well on the south west side of Loch Oich and were then presented to McDonald Lord of the Isles in Invergarry Castle. The well in which they were washed is called Tobar nan Ceann or the well of the heads; it has a handsome monument over it on which is recorded a short description of the event in four languages.
