They lived for 7 years in caves in the surrounding hills of Lochaber; at the end of that time thinking all was forgotten they returned to Keppoch.
In the mean time Eoin Lom was not idle after using all the means in his power during the seven years to have his chiefs death revenged, he at last succeeded in obtaining a party of men from MacDonald Lord of the Isles and some also from McDonald of Glengarry. He left Glengarry Castle at dusk and arrived at Keppoch at midnight, he put the murderers to death and brought the seven heads to Glengarry. They were washed in a well on the south west side of Loch Oich and were then presented to McDonald Lord of the Isles in Invergarry Castle. The well in which they were washed is called Tobar nan Ceann or the well of the heads; it has a handsome monument over it on which is recorded a short description of the event in four languages.
