011 ; 012 ; 019 ; 020 ; 030 | This name applies to an extensive tract of moorland, a portion of which has been brought under cultivation, it extends from West Drumashie on the South to the Woods of Leys and Essich on the north and is bounded on the west by Clune Wood and Strath Dores and on the east by Loch Ashie and the burn running out of Loch Ashie called Allt Mór, the property of Lord Saltoun Ness Castle and Aldourie Castle. The name is derived from the Gaelic words Druim as-sith which signifies the ridge of Dispeace or the Highling Ridge. This moor extends to the north as far as the Boundary between the parishes of Dores and Inverness and Bona at a belt of wood near the farmsteading of Essich, stretching from thence in an easterly direction along the south side of an extensive Fir plantation which, plantation bounds Leys Moor on the south. |
