The parish of Abernethy and Kincardine is in the Presbytery of Abernethy and synod of Moray. it is bounded on the east and south-east by the parish of Kirkmichael in the County of Banff; on the north and north-west by the parish of Cromdale, Inverallan & Advie, counties of Elgin & Inverness; on the west and south west by the parish of Duthil and Rothiemurchus in the County of Inverness. The parish of Abernethy and Kincardine formed originally two separate and distinct parishes viz:- Abernethy which was partly in Elginshire and partly in Inverness-shire; and Kincardine which was wholly in Invernessshire. These two parishes were united for all civil and Ecclesiastical purposes, but the date of their union is not known. There are no detached portions of the parish of Abernethy and Kincardine nor are there any detached portions of another parish situated within it. The whole of Abernethy & Kincardine Parish has been placed within the County of Inverness by "The Inverness and Elgin County Boundaries Act 1870". |

The road is supposed to have entered this county from the south at Bridge of Brown in Glen Lochy, after which its course was along General Wade's Millitary Road, the greater part of which from Spey Bridge to Bridge of Brown is still used as a county road, to the farm steading of Lynmore, thence past the farmsteading of Ballintua on to the River Spey whose eastern bank it took a short distance below the houses known as Feabuie and kept as far as the Mains of Cromdale where was situated one of the Roman Stations called Tuessis, whence after running a short distance in the same direction it crossed the Spey at the ford known as Garabha Mor, then changing its direction northward it passed close to the farmsteading of Tornvaich from which point its direction was the same as that of the old statute labour road existing now from there to Forres and which is believed to have been made on its site. |
