033 | "At a place called the Haer Cairn, in the Howmuir wood (almost directly north of the present gate) and at Haerland Faulds several rude stone coffins & urns containing human bones were found about 20 years ago." Land of the Lindsays. This was a hillock or Tumulus about 30 years ago as stated by the authorities (personal) quoted. When levelling it at that time several rude stone coffins and urns were found, containing human bones. Several persons now in the locality saw both the urns and the stone coffins. The site is marked by a hollow place in the wood. |
