A castelled building situated a short distance from the west of the Village of Newtyle. This venerable building has obtained a celebrity in the annals of Belles Letters from the fact of the Bannatyne Manuscripts" having been written within its walls. On the north side of the building there is a capacious circular turret which is believed to have been Mr. Bannatyne's study. It is now occupied by Robert Thomas Esqr. Lord Wharncliffe Proprietor.
