A substantially built house erected in 1836 by the heritors of the parish There is also a good dwelling attached erected by the heritors in 1851, with the addition of a small garden and about two acres of glebe land for the accommodation of the teacher William Alexander The school is attended by about 70 pupils on an average of both sexes of whom about 20 are generally females Pure and mixed mathematics, reading writing, Grammar, Geography, classicks French and German languages are the branches taught, for the learning of which the pupils' fees vary from 2/0 [£0.2.0] to 5/0 [£0.5.0] per Quarter. Independent of these fees the teacher has a salary, paid by the heritors, of £34.4s.4d
