Will you have the goodness
to ascertain the proper name
and its spelling of the parish
of "Lundie and Fowlis", and
quote the authorities you con-
-sult on the opposite margin
with the name and spelling
given by each opposite the
respective authority
The following are the different
names and modes of spelling
with the authorities for each
as far as can be ascertained
in the office, viz.

Lundie and Fowlis, New Stat. Acct. [Statistical Account]
Lundie and Foulis, Old Stat. Acct. [Statistical Account]
Lundie, - Johnston's map of Forfarshire
Lundie and Fowlis-Easter, Fullarton's Gazr [Gazetteer]
Lundie and Fowlis, Oliver & Boyd's Almanack
Lundie, - valn [valuation] Roll of Forfarshire
Fowlis Easter - valn [valuation] Roll of Perthshire
You are aware of the
proper documents, &c, to consult
in the parish.

Sir
The date of the Union of
the parishes of Fowlis & Lundie
is unKnown. There are no records
of the event extant, though the
sessional transactions are carefully
recorded since 1647. In all
Ecclesiastical acts whether of
Presbytery, General Assembly, or
Patron in the case of any Presentation
or appointment of Minister,
both parishes are united & designated
The "Parish of Lundie & Fowlis„
Yet each of these parishes is in
a different County & has the
usual parochial school, poor law
board, Registrar, & Officer for the
poor in each parish & in all these
respects is treated as different
Parishes as well as in all
Civil & Sheriff business in
their respective Counties - Forfar
& Perth. A Sheriff's proclamation
for Perthshire would apply
to Fowlis & in this case the proper
name would be Fowlis Easter, but
in Ecclesiastical matters of Londie and Fowlis- Master is consideren
