Laws seem, as stated in the Accounts of the Parish, to have been raised originally from a battle fought in the vicinity of a little Loch, now drained &c., which was called Cathie Loch - Cath in the Gaelic signifies a battle. There are three proprietors in Lunan - the Earl of North Esk W. Blair Imrie Esq of Lunan & Miss Mudie of Pitmuies.
