031 A large tract of marshy ground which was formerly a Lake, but Garie Burn being deepened in 1740 has carried off it waters, still in the Winter season it is wholly covered with the exception of two eminences in the east end. There was found in it by the late Charles Lyell Esqr. of Kinnordy a Canoe or boat made from the trunk of a tree, it measures about 15 feet in length and is preserved at Kinnordy house
