This Castle was built about the year 1568, it is a plain, strong, structure being loop holed, & the walls are very thick, it is surmounted at the S.E. [South East] Corner, with a projecting Turret, and altogether bears a very antiquated appearance, the grounds round about are all cultivated
It is occupied by Mrs. Lyell who retains it to her death, it then passes to her son Alexander Lyell Esqr. Proprietor of the estate.
