This Stone is supposed to have been erected in the year 1010 by Malcolm II in memory of a Danish General who fell in the vicinity, during an engagement, in which the Danes were defeated; the Stone has a Cross on each side & also some Hieroglyphics of some kind.

A small stream rising in a Moss at Lower, near Forfar, it joins the Lunan Water at Friockheim, & both together form a large stream which bears the name of Lunan throughout its course to the Sea.
