A small village in the north of the Parish from which it takes its name, 4 miles East of Forfar & 1½ West of Letham; it contains a sub Post-office, Despatch of Letters by runner to Forfar at 9.15a.m. Delivery at 1.0p.m. The houses are all in good repair.

A considerable tract of moss on the estate of Dunnichen. It was formerly a Loch, but was partially drained to get at the Moss & Marl, but the drain would require to be 10 feet deeper to drain it thoroughly.
