054 | [Situation] On the eastern side of Sugarhouse Wynd The site of this chapel was shewn by Mr Reid writer who paid a deal of attention to the ecclesiastical antiquities of Dundee. He states that the site was pointed out to him by an old man who resided a long time in the lane and was a native of the town and that many years ago he saw some remains which led him to believe that the chapel stood at the place pointed out. In the old Rent Roll mention is made of an enclosure called the Chapel Yard situated on the west side of the lane or Wynd but Mr Reid is of the opinion that the said enclosure must have been garden ground which belonged to the chapel. Mr. ___ differs in opinion with Mr. Reid and says that the Chapel stood at the north end of the Wynd adjoining the Cowgate and states that he heard so from tradition [continued on page 36] |
