Alexander Stephenson Leys of Dun Henry Cowie (Gamekeeper) |
027 | A small eminence covered with wood, having all the appearance of being artificial. It is situated in the Park in front of Dun House a short distance east of the avenue leading from the West Lodge; Alexander Stevenson states that when a boy attending school (he is now a very old man) it was called the "Pit and Gallows" & the tradition was that the former Lairds or Barons of Dun had tried & executed vassals on it. |
