A straggling Village, Constructed along the Arbroath public road. It is situated wholly within Barry parish at a distance of about 3½ Miles East of Monifieth And 1½ West of Carnoustie. The houses generally Are of the inferior kind one story high, and slated, with small gardens attached, the Inhabitants with few exceptions belong to the Working Classes, being mostly Weavers. There are two Churches in the Village the Established and a free Church, and also two schools in Connection with the Churches. There are no Inns, and but one public house at which the Accomadation is very inferior. The Village is not lit with gas. There are no Fairs or Markets held in the Village during the Year.
