A parish in the County of Forfar. It is about 4 miles in length, and 3 in breadth, and is bounded on the north by St Vigeans and Arbroath, on the East by part of Arbroath and the Sea, on the South by part of St Vigeans and Panbride, on the West, by Carmyllie and Panbride. The extent of Sea Coast is about 3 miles, for the most part flat and sandy. The greater part of the parish is gently undulated, yet the hills are neither very high nor rocky, but are in general green and capable of cultivation. The Water of Elliot which runs through this parish from north to South has its source in the parish of Carmyllie, about 3 miles from the Town of Arbirlot. It was once noted for trouts of a peculiar relish This parish is in the presbytry of Arbroath and synod of Angus and Mearns. There are no detached portions of other parishes within Arbirlot and there are no detached portions of Arbirlot.
