033 | A small Estate occupied by the Proprietor for farming. Part of this house is an Antiquity - the part crossed in red, but, upon the personal authorities quoted, it does not appear to have been more than a house of the 16th or 17th Centuries. It is not built in the style of a Castle nor is it of the strength in the walls. In the New Statl: [Statistical] Account it states that ''the house of Carsegownie is another specimen of the same kind of defensive dwelling place though on a smaller scale" (alluding to the neighbouring Castles of Balgavies and Flemington), "and now in a great measure divested of its stronghold appearance by the recent enlargement of its once loophole looking windows.
