A well constructed house erected partly at the expense of Government and partly by the Heritors of the Parish, for the accommodation of the children in those portions of the Parish of Cameron and St. Andrews adjacent, the average number of children in attendance are 70 and are taught the ordinary branches of an English education. The Master receives £9 yearly from Government together with what fees he can obtain from the [pupils] he is also allowed a free house and garden.

A considerable sized hill a short distance S.W. [South West] of the village of [Denhead] Its surface for the most part is very Rocky and in some places precipitous from which it has derived the name Craig. There is a Trigl. [Trigonometrical] station on its summit.
