A circular piece of pavement in the Centre of the Kirk Wynd it is about 9 links diameter and on one of the stones in the centre is the date 1728, the period at which it was laid down. It covers the site of the former ancient cross. [Note] The stone in the centre of this pavement is called "the Market Cross", as it stands upon the site of the former Cross, which was erected about the 16th Century. It was of no importance. |
